Victoria Beckham: A Very Posh Icon
Victoria Beckham, or Posh Spice, as she will forever be known to pop music fans is an international style icon. Victoria, along with four other girls burst on the music scenes as a top girl group from the UK. The group was named "The Spice Girls." Each girl of the group got a nickname that put them into nice but contained mental boxes. Victoria was appropriately called Posh, for her couture fashion sense, high stilettos, and upscale attitude. When most pop stars look cheesy and dated over time, Victoria for the most part still looks refined with a bit of edge in old photo shoots. This can not be said for her other pop counterparts.
As Victoria moved away from the music scene, she became very relevant for an entirely different reason. She is a fashion and style icon. She regularly can be seen at fashion weeks, on the pages of elite fashion magazines, and she even has her own fashion line. In 2000, Victoria Beckham debuted as a fashion model during London's fashion week. She has also been the face of "Dolce & Gabbana." In 2004, she designed a line for "Rock & Republic" called "VB Rocks." In 2006, she was a guest fashion editor for "Harper's Bazaar" March issue. That same year she created her own line of high-end jean line, where she is currently the creative director. The company is called, "dvb style". The name is a combination of her name, and her husband, David Beckham. Her name is connected to everything from hand bags to sunglasses. She also has fragrances like many other celebrities and style icons. She has been the face of many fashion design companies including famed designer, Marc Jacobs.
Victoria Beckham while being a fashion icon, model and designer, is also a role model for the fashion industry. She is against animal cruelty, and all of her lines are fur-free. She is greatly admired by animal rights groups, like "PEDA." She promised to never use fur in any of her lines at any time, and to stand against fur use in the fashion world.
Today, besides being a fashion icon, she is a dedicated wife and mother to her three children. In 2007, she once again reunited with "Spice Girl" members, and let the world know that girl power was still alive and well.
