Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Trends
At the beginning of each new season it is a good time to do a closet stock take. Do you need any new clothes or accessories? If you are planning to outlay some money on new pieces, you might find the following spring/summer 2012 fashion trends to be of interest.
Seven popular fashion trends for spring/summer 2012:
1960s inspired clothes and accessories
There have been several popular television shows of late that are set during the 1960s, for example, Mad Men. Therefore many designers have taken inspiration from this decade for their spring/summer collections. Some of the most notable trends influenced by the 1960s include; cats eye sunglasses, color blocking, retro inspired swimwear such as high waist bottoms, and tie dye printed garments. To really complete the look you can partner these trends with 1960s inspired make up, because it is also in vogue. For an easy to achieve look try lining your upper eyelids with black eyeliner in a cat eye style and a pair it with a nude lip.
The color orange is featuring heavily in many areas of fashion for spring/summer 2012. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that Pantone forecasted that Tangerine would be the color of 2012. The good news is that this color works with the majority of skin tones. If you find it a bit too much you could always try wearing a coral tone instead. Other popular colors for the season include red, white, beige, deep pink tones and navy.
Many handbags and shoes feature attention grabbing prints this spring/summer. Animal printed styles like leopard and snakeskin remain popular, together with many other print styles including; polka dots, stripes, large flower prints, small flower prints, and island style prints. These styles go well with simple clothing pieces as they act as the focal point of your outfit. By adding a printed pair of shoes or handbag you can renew your closet immediately.
Lace has been widely used to decorate dresses, blouses and skirts for spring/summer 2012. You will find lots of styles made completely from lace, both lined and unlined, but if you like something more subtle there are also lace trimmed styles like blouses with lace along the neckline. This is always a classic look that can add some interest to a work ensemble when worn under a basic jacket.
Floor length skirts and dresses
If you want to look taller, a full length skirt, or dress can help your cause. This is because, it disguises the real length of your legs. This year they are featuring heavily in many stores ranges for spring/summer. There are many styles in seasonal prints, but if you are looking for something more classic there are also basic styles in neutral colors available.
Form fitting clothes
Many designers showed clothes that hugged the body in their spring/summer runway shows. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian have also been making form fitting clothes popular. Think pencil skirts, bandage style dresses, jersey skirts and dresses, and body con styles. These designs are not for wallflowers so be prepared to let your curves show if you want to embrace this look.
If you like to add some height to your appearance by wearing heels, you will probably be happy to know that the platform wedge shoe is very popular for this spring/summer. If you like really high styles, designers are not failing to deliver; there are many styles that will give you an extra six inches of leg length.
