Attention subculture girls, everywhere, you can look classy and like a modern day pin-up girl without breaking the bank.  I am going to highlight a few fashion basics to start your classic pin-up/rockabilly/psychobilly girl wardrobe within a reasonable budget most girls can afford!  Retro is fun and classy, so let's explore this look!

1.  Nautical Girl - The staples of this look include a bandana to create "Rosie the Riveter hair", fold up capri jeans, and a striped t-shirt, or a knotted sleeveless blouse.  I can't do the knotted sleeveless blouse, because it rises too high for my liking, but if you can, more power to you!  For my own tastes, and style limits, I am going to stay with my striped nautical t-shirt.  Women's sleeveless pin-tuck knotted blouses are available at Oldnavy and Oldnavy.com for $22.  You can purchase bandanas and bandannas at most dollar stores in different styles and patterns for a dollar!  You can purchase woman's folded capri jeans at both Old Navy and Walmart.  Old Navy has stiffer styles that will last a little longer for $19, but at Walmart, these styles can be as low as $12 if you watch sales!  To keep with your nautical look, I find that red, white, and blue are the best sailor girl colors!  Red and white striped crewneck, fitted t-shirts are available at Old Navy for just $8.50 in a variety of sizes, including tees for the plus size pin-up girl!

2.  Psychobilly Pin-up - The first part of your look that you might want to start out with are really cool barrettes to wear either on one or both sides of your hair.  Bangs and bobs are a big thing for psychobilly girls.  Try leopard prints, skulls, and lime green is a cool color to add to your look.  Cherries, nautical barrettes, big rose clips are cool looks.  Go big and bold!  Incorporate polka dots into your skull and zombie look somewhere.  It helps with the psychobilly girl look.  For plus size girls, Pacificplex.com is a good place to shop for rockabilly and psychobilly dresses for under $30.  Halter dresses with swing skirts are a good look and Pacificplex.com is the cheapest place around to get them.  They also have black and white polka dotted wooden stilettos right now with a sling back for $24.99!  You can wear them with a polka dot halter top, or just a plain halter top and your fold up capri jeans this summer for another cool look!  The sling back polka dot shoes are a good basic to have in your Psychobilly collection.

3.  Classic Pin-up - Pacific Plex has a dress that is just $29.99.  Its got a strapless black and white striped top and a grey bottom separated by a black patent leather belt.  It looks like the original 50's Barbie's dress, but it comes in plus size for girls that don't have Barbie's body, but it still looks good!  Pacific Plex sells on Amazon.com, too.  Pencil skirts are a good look for the classic pin-up girl, and can be purchased at Walmart and Walmart.com for $12.99 in black and charcoal.  There is a cute black and white polka dot halter top on Amazon.com that sells for about $23.99 that would look awesome paired up with a pencil skirt!  You can purchase Cherry Print Open Toe Pump Heels with a huge red patent leather bow attached on Pinkimpulse.com for $19.99.  That's such a good deal, and a cool thing to have to spice up your look!

4.  Absolute bare bones basics - You should go with a pencil skirt, a couple of pairs of fold-up capri jeans, a halter top, some comfortable, but classy shoes.  You can start off with a pair of patent leather Mary Jane's if you don't feel comfortable with higher shoes.  You can even purchase these kinds of shoes at Payless, Kmart, Walmart, and Target.  They are generally under $25.  Go with some bandanas to tie up your hair, leaving your bangs exposed.  Try out a funky purse in an interesting print.  You can buy some choice psychobilly items around Halloween.  Cobwebs, bats, skulls, and black cats are a good place to start.  A large rose or flower for your hair is a good item to get you started on your way, too.  You can purchase those for well under $5 at your local Family Dollar Store, or at Claire's Boutique for under $10.

Have fun and enjoy your new sweet, but sexy look.  Who knows, maybe you will go down in history like Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, Jayne Mansfield, and maybe even Betty Boop!
